To the editor of Amateur Photographer

To the editor of Amateur Photographer is a film by Mark Fell and Luke Fowler, commissioned by Pavilion and Hyde Park Picture House in 2014. It revolves around the testimonies and documents linked to the complex and often contested history of Pavilion, established in Leeds in 1983 as the UK’s first feminist photography centre. The film examines a radical shift in photography whilst also foregrounding the problems of presenting history through archival fragments and personal recollections.

The film returns to the cinema following presentations across the UK, Europe and America. After the screening there will be a chance to watch excerpts from a recent dialogue that took place between Fowler Emma Hedditch and Stuart Comer at MoMA.
